Generally speaking, There are usually have 2 main types of cases: Soft and Hard cases. We also have some new cases which are made of 2 or more different materials.
Let’s talk about the soft cases first.
Soft shell cases:
They are made of materials such as thermoplastic polyurethanes(which we used called TPU), and silicone. Of course, there are more soft materials such as TPE or TPR, but they are not been used for normal protection cases mostly. These 2 materials are the most materials which been used for making phone cases.
They are flexible and are available in a wide variety of colors and patterns. That’s why they can be easy to install and remove.
So what’s the difference between TPU and silicones?
Usually, TPU cases are injection products. Put the molding on a huge injection machine and then you will get the case you need. (I will talk more about this technology in another article). Products can be highly crystal/transparent, and the molding marks can be invisible. They can be thick or ultra-thin and looks more pretty and more mouldable.
Silicone case can’t be pure transparent, and it is formed by extrusion. So usually silicone products will be thick. There will be molding marks between the top and the bottom parts. Cute and soft is it’s most characteristic.
One of the biggest advantages of soft cases is their shock-absorbing properties.
If your device is dropped or bumped, a soft shell case can help to absorb the impact and protect your device from damage. Soft shell cases are also relatively affordable, which makes them a popular choice for people, who want to protect their devices without breaking the bank. Hard Cases
Hard shell cases, on the other hand, are made of materials such as polycarbonate or ABS plastic. The latest hard case material is acrylic and tempered glass. They are rigid and offer a higher level of protection than soft shell cases.
Hard cases are typically thicker and heavier than soft shell cases, which can make them less portable, and hard to install or remove. We usually combine PC and TPU(soft materials) 2 in 1 case, so the case can be protective and also portable in current times.
